How do bears age?

Bears have 6 main life stages:

  1. From birth to 1 year – baby bear (cub)
  2. From 1 to 2 years – a yearling bear
  3. From 3 years to 3 years – teenage bear
  4. From 4 to 7 years – young adult bears
  5. From 8 to 15 years – middle-aged bears
  6. From 16 years – old bears

The oldest bear known was Dabby the polar bear who lived for 41-42 years (and that would equal 221-227 years in human age!)
