How do donkeys age?
Donkeys live through 5 main life stages:
- From birth to 6 months – baby life stage, when a donkey is called a foal;
- From 5 month to 5 years – teenage life stage, a female donkey is called a jenny, and a male is called a jack;
- From 5 years to 20 years – a donkey reaches its adulthood;
- From 21 to 30 years - a donkey is considered old;
- A donkey who lives over 30 years is very old.
The oldest donkey
The oldest donkey recorded by the Guinness World Records was Suzy the donkey, who died at the age of 54 years (which equals 162 human years!)
Other resources state that there is a donkey names Bubbles who will turn 63 years old in 2022. Up till now, there was no statement of her death, which makes Bubbles the oldest living donkey.
